Manic Monday

So I always see these quizzes floating around facebook and I think some are hilarious (but I RARELY post the results because honestly who wants to have their feed filled with useless information like which Downton Abbey character you are?)
BUT.
I still think they're funny to take.
So I took a few this morning.

First up, what accent do I have?
Apparently, North Central.
I find this amazing considering that I have spent the majority of my life in Texas and I do have a twang.
I also find it incredibly fascinating that one of the towns listed on this map is "Chisholm" and that is my maiden name. Coincidence?

Next up, which Downton Abbey character am I?
Matthew Crawley.
Now, to be fair, the quiz did not ask my gender.
I do find it a little sad that this shows me as dead though.
Bummer.

Finally, what state should I live in?
Originally when I took this several months ago, the quiz showed that West Virginia was the ideal state for me. West. Virginia.
No.
Today however, the Great Lakes were the answer.
Considering that my accent is Minnesotan, I think this to be quite fitting.

And just for the record, we have no plans on moving out of the state.

Pinterest Monday

You know how some days are just, well, frankly, they are made for perusing Pinterest.
Today was one of those days.
Of course after swim team practice, laundry, cooking dinner for a friend and doing my nails. Gotta get that mani in when you can!

And you can follow me on Pinterest if you fell so inclined! I'm clarissadoss.
Happy-almost-end-of-Monday!

Manic Monday

Hallelujah, Monday is here!
Right?
I remember talking to one of my sister-in-law's about how stressed out I get on the weekends because the boys are home, Stuart is home (mostly), we have this and that to do...and she told me to think of M-F as "my" weekend. Since the boys are in school and I have that time to myself (kind of), I should just act like Monday is really Saturday.
I can't say that I have jumped full force into this thinking, but it has helped remind me that I do get some down time.
However, today is not one of those days.
Today we are having a water softener installed.
Yes, I'm feeling quite grown up with our lawn guy and now a water softener.
But oh my gracious is my garage and kitchen a mess!
Stuart is beyond giddy about this and I'm just ready to see how a shower will feel post installation.
I guess the reward outweighs the temporary chaos.
This weekend I had the benefit of taking individual soccer pictures for our team.

Let me just say, photographers are worth every penny they charge!
It's no joke taking and editing pictures.
My hats off to you if that's what you do.
My baby sister also came into town again to celebrate baby Hutton.

Baby showers are so fun (as are babies).
I could smell powder fresh scent all day long.
Plus I got to make more onesies.
Again, my hat goes off to seamstresses.
Oh and did I mention that there are only 37 more days of school?
Summer is a comin'!

e.l.f.

One of the things that I struggle with (along with my lack of fashion sense) is make-up.
I'm a stay-at-home mom, so my go to look is all natural.
For no other reason than it's just faster, most mornings/days I carry on with little more than moisturizer on my face.
I've tried several different brands of make-up from Clinique to MaryKay to CoverGirl.
I loved Clinique and MaryKay but sometimes was taken aback by sticker shock.
Cheaper, drug store brands fit my wallet but don't always work as well for me.
Oh and did I mention that I have sensitive, acne prone skin?
(Don't get me started on the fact that I still have acne at the age of 32...BUMMER!)
All this to say, my make-up routine really has taken a back seat in the last few years.
Recently I discovered e.l.f. make-up at Target.
My eye first caught the $1/$3/$5 price tag.
I mean, $1?!
Of course I had to give it a try.
And y'all, the stuff is really good.
Plus they also carry at Walmart and we all know $1 for blush is phenominal.

What's your current go to make-up?

Manic Monday

Welcome to Spring Break, day 1! Also know as NO SCHOOL day 1! I fondly remember spring break as the time we would go skiing for the week, sleeping and thoroughly enjoying some time off. It's amazing how that perspective changes once you're a parent.

Being that it's Monday and there's no school, I thought it only fitting to share a few scattered, manic if you will, thoughts that I have had over the past few days.

  • I firmly believe that all video games should have a two player option. Obviously the makers of such one player games did not have two little boys vying for screen time.
  • I CAN NOT STAND when other adults tell my children what to do when I am standing right in front of them.
  • Stop begging, Turbo.
  • I'm dreaming to the Lego Batman soundtrack. This is not good.
  • If I could hire help, it would be someone to do the laundry.
  • Why do people pretend to be Christians? I am by NO MEANS a model Christian but don't claim to be one and in the same breath post pictures of your mostly naked body and comment that you're going to "hook up" with your boyfriend. That really irritates me.
  • My children are the stereotypical mini version of Stuart and I. It's comical really.
  • One day we'll finish our house to-do list. One day.
  • Is it Friday yet?
