It's a Small World

This is Melissa Joan Hart.

This is me. (on the right. in purple)

Why am I showing you a picture of this woman and me?
Funny you should ask.
Melissa Joan Hart was the star of a show called, "Clarissa Explains it All."
When I was growing up I was asked, "do you explain it all?" {snicker, snicker}
I sincerely disliked the show for that singular reason.
Fast forward 20 years and most people don't even know about the show.
Great!
But funnily enough, Melissa (i.e. Clarissa) gave birth a baby boy yesterday and gave him the moniker, Tucker.
Really?
For the record, I gave my son the name Tucker first.
Just so that we're clear.
This irony got me thinking though.
Melissa has blonde hair. I have blonde hair,
Melissa has 3 boys. I have 2 boys.
Melissa is married. I am married.
(to the same man for each of us I might add)
Melissa is in her thirties. I am in my thirties.
Melissa is the oldest of 8 children. I am the oldest of 3 children.
Melissa has blue eyes. I have hazel eyes.
Kinda crazy.
Now if only I could figure out the six degrees of separation thing...

Happy Birthday dear Tyson,
Happy Birthday to YOU!

Him

This man.
This man is my everything.
I love him.
A lot.
With every fiber of my being.
He is my better half.
(although some days I am totally the better half)
He is my best friend.
The father of our children.
He fixes things.
Well, everything.
He's a hard worker.
He knows how to hug me.
He loves Guiness.
And that's ok by me.
He can actually sing but he doesn't like to in public.
He has a better sense of style than me.
And that's ok by me too.
He knows every word to Office Space.
He loves cars and tools and electronics.
He does not like watching sports (free remote on Sundays!).
He's really, really smart.
He wants to buy a sailboat, like his parents and live on it.
He loves the water.
He likes the color red.
He could play Legos with the boys for hours.
He's funny.
But sometimes you have to catch his wittiness.
He's kinda shy.
He always has to have a "radiator foot" out while sleeping.
He loves me.
And that's really ok by me.

life rearranged
Lunch. With the boys. At SCHOOL.

Tyson's cleaned out closet.

Tucker's cleaned out closet.

My summer list. Obviously things did not happen.

My "next week" list. As you can see, there was some carry-over.

2012 list. By golly, this will get done!

Look! I started scanning the school work!

Take note, the high may be 102* but the low is 64*. Progress.

New Lego Club magazines. I get at least 30 minutes of silence. PURE JOY.
Happy Friday y'all!

"Hey, I made pancakes!"

I am not a political agenda pusher. I have my preferences and I usually keep them to myself. I vote. I believe all people should. I also believe that if you want to have a say in what our government is or is not doing, you should vote. And that's pretty much all you are going to hear me say about politics!

But when I saw this today, I had to share it. It's prefect.

On another wonderful note, Luke is HOME! God is AMAZING!

I want that, and that, and that

Ok, so last night Stu and I were perusing the bowels of the media, we came across and fancy little show known as "Blog Cabin." Now, we are no strangers to the DIY network. We routinely gaze longingly at all the home renos and think out loud about the promise of what can be done to our own humble abode. (Let me just remind you about the downstairs bathroom...yeah, still not complete. And while we're at it, shall we take a trip down the-Wichita-Falls-house lane? I love my husband. He can do just about anything and he's so stinkin' smart. But time management is not his strong suit. Nope. Not at all. But, I digress.)

"Blog Cabin." Right. So this show comes on and y'all, Stu and I watched like 5 episodes in a row (they were having a Labor Day marathon). We were hooked. And the whole while, Stu kept looking at me with those, "I want to build/redo/start a project that I'm not going to finish for over a year" eyes. And I kept looking at him with my "do I really want that bad enough to let you start said project?" eyes.

But y'all, look at this barn (which Stu totally needs).

And I need this deck for all the parties I'm going to have.

And this view ain't too shabby.

Seriously, this floor? Amazing.

Shall we take a moment to gander at this beauty?

I could deal with this for a bedroom.
(all photos came from DIY Network: Blog Cabin 2012)

Yeah, I may just have to let Stuart build me a few things...

It's Fall Y'all!

Well, I guess it's not officially fall, but it's officially September so it counts.

Let me just get one thing out: my cousin Luke is doing really well! Praise God! He was extubated and came out of surgery crying (good thing). He's breathing on his own and it looks like they might be going home Sunday or Monday! You can read about it here.

So, since it's fall and I'm ready to bust out our cute sweaters (yeah right! I do live in south Texas now), I thought I would share some fall inspiration from my pinterest board. You're welcome!

1. I want a front porch like this. 2. I want to arrange some pumpkins and big flowers just like this.

Gold pumpkins? L O V E

Adore these white pumpkins!

Initial pumpkins. So cute.

1. I want to have a trio of hanging, framed mirrors. 2. I want to hang cute wreaths on said mirrors.

Thanksgiving centerpiece. Yes please.

Dryer vent to pumpkin. Genius.

Easy and cute centerpiece.

You can find all the sources and more pictures/inspiration on my pinterest board Fall.

{Don't know about pinterest? 1. Where have you been? 2. You must go there, now. 3. Create an account. 4. Plan on spending the rest of your day there. Again, you are welcome.}
