InstaFriday

Y'all, I have not been a good blogger this week.
In fact, I have not been a good blogger for the past few months.
BUT this week, I really do have a good excuse-
SEWING.
I have been sewing.
Rather, learning how to sew.
But either way, sewing and laundry and dishes and
PLAYING OUTSIDE
have taken precedence over blogging.
However, I have this handy little thing called an iphone.
And with said device, I document my day.
To be more accurate,
Tucker documents himself and I wrestle my phone
from his grubby hands just enough to snap a few pictures.
Thus, my week in instagram.

Our pattern :)

Tucks

I'm sure that y'all don't really care about my new sewing venture, but y'all, I'm actually learning something. It really is fabulous. And my machine has never been used so much. I think it's happy too.

Yesterday I did my "Tucks" lesson. I'm super excited. Although, I did my three tucks using red thread and after looking at the pictures, I think that the red is a bit too much. So I redid my spaced tucks in white. Much better.

Head on over to Raechel's blog (not my cousin that I frequently talk about) to see what's going on!

InstaFriday

It's been a busy weeks round here y'all.
I almost lost three fingers grating carrots for carrot cake.
The boys almost lost their minds over Easter candy.
Tyson had to get a crown on his tooth.
And we had the last Tuesday Bible study class for the semester.

Thus here's some of my week in pictures...

YUM.

Cascarones.

Daddy. He's the best.

The offending cupcakes. They sure were good though.

Tyson's artwork displayed at school.

Practice spelling test. Is he really old enough for this??
 Polo party.

Post dentist office craziness. There's nothing a little Lego Ninjago can't fix.

Y'all, I'm learning how to SEW. For reals. Raechel is phenomenal.

There you have it. In a nice, photographed nutshell.
Happy Friday y'all!

Thursday Mash

Please pray for my cousins and their son Luke. (see icon on sidebar) Rachael is one of the strongest women I know and I can only imagine how difficult life is right now.

Praise! My friend Jessica and her husband had their court date this past Monday and the adoption of their son Danny (also see icon on sidebar) was completed!! Hallelujah! They will be traveling soon to get their son!

Say a prayer for marriages. It seems that all around me marriages are suffering and deteriorating. I have one friend who's in the throws of a really awful situation with her marriage and the pain and hurt seems unbearable.

Tyson and Tucker went to the dentist for the first time ever yesterday. (I know, I know. You can berate me later for waiting so long to take them in.) Tyson has been complaining of tooth pain for awhile but the past couple of days have been especially bad for me. Yesterday morning he was crying so hard before school that I knew I needed to do something. So, I consulted the BCBS website to find someone in our network (aside-isn't finding a doctor "in network" such a stinkin' pain?) and ended up getting a morning appointment at a fairly new practice 1.7 miles from our house. The visit started out swimmingly. Both boys got x-rays, the tech was super sweet and cleaning went marvelously. But while the dentist was examining Tyson, she found not one but TWO cavities plus two more teeth that had pre-cavities. Yikes! She also scheduled for us to meet with the orthodontist at our next 6 month appointment. Gulp. After all was said and done, we walked out of the office 2.5 hours later, with sedation, a crown, an appointment for a second crown next week and a child vomiting in the car from all the hub-bub. Fun! At least neither boy complained that the dentist was scary and Tyson even said she was really nice.

My youngest sister is having her wisdom teeth removed on Friday, so my mom and dad are headed up to Abilene tonight to help out. Can you say a pray for safe travels and a speedy recover for me sis?

My middle sister and her husband sold their house (in ONE DAY!) and have to be out by April 30. Double gulp. Can you pray that they find another house and the moving will be as unstressful and unchaotic as possible?

Oh, and 48 days days till the end of school. That's less than 50. Oh my word.

It was coming

Tucker: Mommy, was I in your tummy when I was a baby?
Me: Well, kind of. You were in my tummy before you were born.
Tucker: How did I get in your tummy?
Me: {oh mylanta! did my FIVE year old just ask me about SEX?!}
Tucker: Mommy! How did I get in your tummy??
Me: Well, God made you that way. He made you by starting you out in mommy's tummy.
Tucker: But how did God put me there?
Me: {gracious} Well...after a mommy and a daddy get married, they can make a baby. And then that baby grows in the mommy's tummy.
Tucker. Ok. Can I have a blue lunchable when we get home?
Me: Yup!

Christ is Risen!

We had a wonderful, laid back Easter. Have I mentioned how nice it is to live in the same city as family? Oh man. While we were doing the Air Force thing and living far, far away from loved ones, I honestly didn't realize how wonderful it is to be with family. And it is.

Our Easter festivities started on Friday. Tyson had the day off from school and Stuart had the day off from work. Amazing. We relaxed most of the morning, then got dressed and went to Friday night service at church. It was a Good Friday theme, but I thought since it was Good Friday it was entirely appropriate to go to church that night. My mom got the boys these cute plaid shorts and we were all going to try and wear blue, but Stu didn't want to wear his blue polo...so, yeah.

After church, we went out to eat. Can you guess where??

It took forever to get in and out of the restaurant, and then I made Stu stop at Target so I could run in and get last minute basket stuff. I was NOT going to go to any store on Saturday. I'm not that crazy. But all the that stopping meant that it was 9:45 before the boys were in bed. Wowzers! T-I-R-E-D boys. (bedtime 'round here is 7 pm)

Saturday morning, we rolled out of bed and headed to my SIL's for her annual East party. The boys are finally big enough to play without me following them around, so I got enjoy talking and visiting. What a novel idea!

We came home and all passed out. It was marvelous.

Sunday morning, I got to sleep in. SLEEP IN Y'ALL. The boys got their baskets and I started cooking. Let me just take a moment for a public service announcement:
When using a grater to grate carrots, WATCH YOUR FINGERS. They can and will get sliced into. And you can and will scream. And you will need lots of band-aids.
Alrighty, everyone good?
My parents came over for lunch and we did enjoy the the carrot cupcakes that almost caused me to toss my fingers out with the trash.

The best part? I stayed in my pajamas all day.

One day the grave could conceal him no longer.
One day the stone rolled away from the door.
Then he arose! Over death he had conquered!
Now is ascended, my LORD evermore!
Death could not hold him, no the grave could not keep him from rising again!
Living he loved me.
Dying he saved me.
Buried he carried my sins far away!
Rising he justified, freely forever!
One day he's coming!
O glorious day!
